Daniel Darmanin, president of the Commission, met Cardinal Peter Turkson, prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development. During the meeting at the Vittoriosa Parish Church Chapter Hall, the ongoing work of the local commission was discussed, in particular the health of the seas in view of the conference held last year in Copenhagen by Justice and Peace Europe and other partners. The Maltese Commission is currently helping in the drafting of a shared document supporting action related to this issue and its root causes. The Economy of Franesco event was also discussed, with Mr. Darmanin explaining that the commission is working on a project in line with the principles of this event. The aim of the commission is to bring together a number of stakeholders to propose measures to renew the Maltese economy by looking beyond gdp growth.
Cardinal Turkson was in Malta to celebrate the second centenary of the foundation of the Collegiate Chapter of the Parish Church of St. Lawrence in Vittoriosa.
